Bare - Skin Safe Conductive Ink

Bare is a conductive ink that is applied directly onto the skin allowing the creation of custom electronic circuitry. This innovative material allows users to interact with electronics through gesture, movement, and touch. Bare can be applied with a brush, stamp or spray and is non-toxic and temporary. Application areas include dance, music, computer interfaces, communication and medical devices. Bare is an intuitive and non-invasive technology which will allow users to bridge the gap between electronics and the body.

Visible Sound

The intention for this project was to make sound visible. As there is already a variety of ways in which sounds can be seen (equalizers, sub-titles, etc.), the aim was to produce a device where that representation of sound would be a physical one.

Siftables

Siftables are cookie-sized computers with motion sensing, neighbor detection, graphical display, and wireless communication. They act in concert to form a single interface: users physically manipulate them - piling, grouping, sorting - to interact with digital information and media. Siftables provides a new platform on which to implement tangible, visual and mobile applications. more

Eyelight

Adding a precision control system to an array of high brightness LEDs transforms the ubiquitous object of a light bulb into a end node of a global surveillance system: A restless eye appears and is attracted to any nearby movement to gaze onto and analyze it. more

littleBits

littleBits is a library of discrete electronic components pre-assembled in tiny circuit boards. Just as Legos allow you to create complex structures with very little engineering knowledge, littleBits are simple, intuitive, space-sensitive blocks that make prototyping with sophisticated electronics a matter of snapping small magnets together.

Hono

Candlelight sways in invisible faint flow of air. The mysteriousness may be the charm of the candlelight. However, the light source is fire, and thus not all places are suitable for it. A white acrylic tube that encloses candlelight is imaged, and the light that catches the tiniest breeze is realized by using LED.

Topobo

Topobo is a 3D constructive assembly system with kinetic memory, the ability to record and playback physical motion. By snapping together a combination of Passive (static) and Active (motorized) components, people can quickly assemble dynamic biomorphic forms like animals and skeletons with Topobo, animate those forms by pushing, pulling, and twisting them, and observe the system repeatedly play back those motions.

Chameleon

Chameleon is a lamp shade that changes to match any color you 'show' it... A traditional bulb at the centre of the lamp provides white light above and below the lamp, while an LED ring around this light projects a selected color into the shade, while at the same time preventing the white light from diluting the color being projected.

The Heat sensitive Lamp

In the ‘Heat-Sensitive Lamp’ example, the lamp takes its shape as the lamp is turned on for the first time, its material composition determined by the heat of light bulb. This example highlights electricity as an essential material in the design of a lamp – in fact, energy itself participates in the design of the aesthetic form of the object.

Walls With Ears

A traditional textile heritage is celebrated with flocked wallpaper that comes to life as it reacts to ambient noise levels. The louder the space the brighter the wallpaper glows. It explores the experience of human presence and action having a tangible effect on space and provides a direct and analogue reflection of this by addressing the point where ambient space ends and surface begins.
